DESCRIPTION
The candidate must be a skilled craftsman to perform the electrical and mechanical maintenance of the process equipment.

The successful candidate must have strong communication skills and the ability to recognize trends and anomalies in operational data. Proactive problem solving and the ability to effectively troubleshoot in a team are essential traits. The operator must be prepared to work rotating shifts with occasional overtime.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualified craftsman (installer / electrician / miller)
Benefit of electrical certification
Driver’s license
Basic training in first aid and fire fighting is preferred
Fluent in Afrikaans and English

EXPERIENCE

At least 2-3 years of experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance in power generation / continuous process plants.
Hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing CHP (combined heat and power) units or other major rotating equipment.
Hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and instrumentation at CHPs.
Hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems.
Practical experience in the maintenance of static equipment.
Hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of PLC and control equipment.
Hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair and testing of protective equipment, generators, fire and gas and basic SCADA systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibilities of the operators will include:
Continuous monitoring and control of all operating parameters of the waste recovery process plant.
Safe and continuous operation mechanical and electrical plant instrumentation and process equipment.
Follow start-up and shutdown procedures for both the entire plant and individual process units.
Strictly comply with, promote and ensure compliance with HSSE rules and practices.
Record and record production figures, downtime events, maintenance events and anomalies in operating parameters electronically.
Asset integrity management.
Follow preventive maintenance schedules for plant process equipment.
Report any and all plant problems or parameter anomalies to the site manager.
Maintain cleanliness standards at the plant.
