Robertson Winery (Pty) Ltd is offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Laboratory Analyst based in Robertson, Western Cape.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• General maintenance, operation and sample analysis on laboratory instrumentation and equipment according to set SOP’s and test methods.
• Ensure calibration and verification checks are performed on laboratory instrumentation according to set schedules and SOP’s.
• Monthly stock evaluation of laboratory consumables.
• Accurate preparation of standard stock and quality control solutions according to set test methods.
• Ensure accurate and precise analysis and reporting of proficiency testing samples.
• Trending of test results and quality control data.
• Assist with training, verification, and supervision of laboratory staff.
• Analysis of results, report, review, and authorization of results.
• Investigate out-of-specification results and solve technical issues.
• Participate in internal assessments and audits.
• Ensure that cleanliness and safety standard are maintained (strict adherence to PPE, lab safety, food safety rules and regulations).
• Assist with maintenance and compliance of ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory Management system.
• Fulfill all functions related to a Technical Signatory.
• Assist with research projects and test studies.
• Development, modification, verification, and validation of test methods.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BSc-degree in Chemistry / bio-chemistry / micro biology (Post-graduate qualification will be beneficial).
• Excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English (written and spoken).
• Advanced computer literacy skills: MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Strong applied statistical skills.
• 5 years’ relevant experience in an analytical laboratory environment.
• 3 years’ experience with lab instrumentation – WineScan, HPLC, ICP, GC-MS & FTIR.
• Solid knowledge of the ISO / IEC 17025 Laboratory Management system.
• Strong problem solving, analytical & logical thinking skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong sense of responsibility and work ethic.
