The Education and Training Authority of the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector (MerSETA) invites students to apply for the 2021/2022 Scholarship Program.
The closing date of the scholarship application is June 30, 2021 (for the first semester) and September 30, 2021 (for the second semester).

Each year merSETA invites students to apply for its scholarship program, which focuses on studies within the Engineering and Science sectors. Students who have excellent academic records and wish to pursue a career within 1 of the 5 merSETA subsectors (Metals and Engineering; Automotive Manufacturing; Plastics Industries; Engine and Component Retail Manufacturing; and New Tire Manufacturing), must apply for a scholarship.

MerSETA scholarships will be awarded for studies in these fields:
Students of the University of Technology (semester courses):
Chemical Engineering (National Diploma)
Electrical engineering (light and heavy current and electronics) (National Diploma)
Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials (National Diploma)
Industrial Engineering (National Diploma)
Mechanical Engineering (including Mechatronics) (National Diploma)
Polymer technology (national diploma)
Production and Operations Management (National Diploma)
University students (undergraduate programs):
Chemical Engineering (BSc)
Electrical engineering (light and heavy current and electronics) (BSc)
Industrial Engineering (BSc)
Mechanical Engineering (including Mechatronics) (BSc)
Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials (BSc)

Scholarships will be awarded to students in their first year of study, however current students can also apply if they have partially completed their courses with satisfactory results and could not continue their studies without funding.
Students who have other significant sources of funding (scholarships, loans, scholarships or other awards), must declare it to the Head of the Scholarship Program.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria before applying (note that if you do not meet all the requirements, your application will not be considered):
You must be a South African citizen
You must be unemployed and want to work in the manufacturing, engineering and related services sector OR you must be employed by a company that is registered with merSETA
Must be in possession of a Matric certificate (or equivalent) OR a post-Matric (or equivalent qualification)
You must meet the minimum admission requirements of the college.
You must be studying or intend to study to obtain one of the aforementioned Undergraduate or Diploma degrees.
You must be studying or intend to study at a recognized University or University of Technology in South Africa

You may be required to submit copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (submission of these documents is required; if anything is missing, your application will not be considered):
Identity document (certified copy)
Registration certificate or equivalent (certified copy)
Proof of application / registration at a University or University of Technology in South Africa
Latest tertiary report, if you are currently studying (certified copy)
Proof of any other source of funding for the study.
