RECRUITMENT ADVERTISEMENT – Internship at uYilo (6 positions)

FIXED TERM 11 MONTH CONTRACT (1 February 2023 TO 31 December 2023)

Applications are invited for this 11 month contract position from suitably qualified students in the field of battery energy storage.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE INTERNSHIP:

To provide graduate students related work experience in the field of energy storage.

INTERNSHIP WORK PLAN:

Laboratory quality management systems (ISO, SANAS), Writing of SOP, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) that includes safe handling of battery manufacturing materials and batteries.
Battery and raw chemical material handling and analysis.
Building of coin cells and configuring cells and batteries onto a battery tester. Software program writing and executing testing sequence
Building and configuring a small BMS with Li-ion cells. Testing and interpreting data
Project management that will include general proposal writing, literature search, execution and write-up, mini research topic.

GENERAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

In addition to the work plan, students may be required to assist with general lab activities as described as below:

Assist with routine chemical analysis and general battery testing
Work within an existing quality system to report results to internal and external customers that required analysis.
Find innovative solutions for various chemistry and/or engineering related problems

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

The internship program is aimed for graduate who have successfully completed one of the following qualifications from an University of Technology and/or TVET college:

Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
Advanced Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
TVET college graduate with a diploma in electrical engineering
The position would not be suitable for students currently enrolled at a university/college.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must have excellent English verbal and written communications skills
Good organising skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and participate meaningful within a research team
Be willing to work across disciplines such as in the field of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
Good time management skills, ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Service excellence focused with aptitude to challenge the status quo whether functioning independent or in a team
