Chief Inspector of Electrical Machines

Location: Benoni

Control and manage the inspection function, ensuring an effective and efficient inspection to the required quality standards of all materials and components and that the production or delivery of the product is stopped when these are not met.

Key responsibilities and responsibilities:
Control the inspection function to ensure compliance with plans, technical specifications, work order, quality requirements and procedures by all sections during manufacturing.
The installation and maintenance of effective inspection procedures and disciplines to ensure that the Company’s product quality is assured to the highest levels with minimal total cost.
Investigate quality issues found in incoming material or manufacturing, together with subcontractors, Production, Engineering, or Sales / Contracts, as appropriate, and help provide solutions to these issues.
Updating of documents and inspection procedures in conjunction with the Quality Department.
Inspection, surveillance and audits of the supplier’s products, either at its own facilities or at the reception of the stores.
Liaison with inspectors or customer representatives on manufacturing quality matters and making sure their requirements are met, as outlined on the work order. This does not include liaison with inspectors or customer representatives regarding witness electrical performance testing.
Link with SABS for product approval to allow for specific conditions when required.
Operate and manage the Defect Report and the concession system, as well as the follow-up of the Report of Non-conformities.
Maintain inspection records indicating conformance to customer’s drawings, technical specifications, and requirements, including inspection records (related to QCP) witnessed by customer’s inspectors or representatives.
Provide feedback information on quality to the Quality Manager.
Ensuring the availability of appropriate inspection instruments and gauges to meet quality objectives. Ensure instrumentation is maintained and calibrated according to company procedures.
Training of all inspection personnel and, when necessary, manufacturing operators.
Maintain and guarantee cleanliness, good order and security within the inspection facilities.
Orderly and orderly control of archived quality documentation.
Carry out the other functions entrusted to him by his superior.

Scope:
Main product range of four different engine types: Unibox (355 – 1190), MS4 (355 – 500), Fireproof (FD 70 – 91) and IKV (160 – 220). Sectors: All major industrial users of electric motors (RSA, Africa and abroad).

Qualifications:
Craftsman or qualified in relevant trade (electrical / mechanical)

Experience:
Must have at least 7 years of quality inspection / control experience
Speaker with 1SO9001 Quality requirements and documentation. Experience in external and internal auditing.

Special requirements:
You must be meticulous, dedicated, and have knowledge of HV engines. Computer knowledge and manufacturing experience. Be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Base salary 30K
