REQUIREMENTS
Our client, based in Phalaborwa, is seeking a Cost & Management Accountant to perform day to day activities involved in the costing and management accounting environment.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To perform day to day activities involved in the costing and management accounting environment.
QUALIFICATION; EXPERIENCE AND EXPOSURE:
B Com/ B. COMPT Degree with Majors in Accounting and Management Accounting.
WORK EXPERIENCE
3 years financial and management accounting background or experience.
Articles would be an advantageous.
Any relevant training for the position would be advantageous.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform Product Costing – Implement and maintain costing System.
Determine product cost inputs.
Determine product cost.
Perform monthly JDE Costing runs and updates.
Perform cost variance analysis – Identify variances using cost by manager reports.
Monitor Cost allocations and provisions – Monitor cost allocations for accuracy.
Ensure costs are allocated to the correct period and follow up on monthly cost provisions & accruals. Review monthly cost statements.
Budgeting – Compile and coordinate division budget.
Preparation and presentation of budget pack for division and input to the financial model.
Maintain Income Statement chart of accounts – Create cost codes on system.
Make changes to responsibility structure when needed.
Reconcile the General Ledger – Reconcile the following to the General Ledger Accounts: -Inventory Accounting and Costing, Cost of sales, Capital and WIP, Other provisions and accruals.
CAPEX Management – Management of division capex process. Continuous monitoring of projects, including capitalization, work in progress, evaluation etc. changes to responsibility structure when needed.
Information Systems – Participation in the implementation of Business systems and updates or improvements. Control modifications and updates of costing, budgeting and monthly accounts module.
Reporting – Submit monthly reports to Division and Corporate Finance.
Present reports at management meetings at the division.
Other – Management reporting – costing/production costs information. Comprehensive analysis of production/sales margins.
Special costing projects and other ad hoc assignments.
