CASE WORKER: Ubuntu Pathways, Port Elizabeth – 36 Months Fixed Term Contract

Ubuntu Pathways is a R50m Global NGO with headquarters in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and overseas offices in New York and London.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage caseload, supporting clients through various life circumstances including, but not limited to: ARV adherence and non-adherence, pregnancy and parenting, child neglect, physical abuse, domestic violence, substance use, financial hardship, food insecurity, etc.
• Provide counselling and education to clients in order to assist them and support them with above-mentioned hardships while promoting self-empowerment and decision-making.
• Conduct home visitation services for clients including pregnant mothers or parents of an infant 0-23 months old, and support in areas such as breastfeeding, parent infant attachment, child development, home safety etc. and support in areas such as treatment adherence/support.
• Collect information about clients through interviews, intakes, surveys, counselling, and observations both on site and on home visits
• Participate in case review meetings as a contributing member.
• Assist, and advocate for, clients in navigating available services both internally and externally
• Lead and support with planning, preparation, and co-facilitating groups and special events focusing in health education and on variety of related topics
• Maintain confidentiality of all client records and information.
• Represent the organization if/when meeting with external stakeholders and visitors.
• Attend all required meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum educational requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology (Registered Counsellor) or any related Social Sciences Degree
• Registration with the relevant authority/council
• Minimum experience of three years
• Experience in case work, maternal child health or community development preferred
• Fluency in isiXhosa and English with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral forms
• Willingness to travel to provide field-based services
• Strong interpersonal skills
