ABOUT THE JOB:
The CSIR has a vacancy for Air-Con Technician in the Facilities Management and Security Services Portfolio. The incumbent will perform installation and maintenance of air-conditioning, heating and refrigeration in specific areas of the CSIR. This position is based in Pretoria.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Routine maintenance tasks on air-conditioning and refrigeration systems in specific areas;
Monitor and test system performance using special equipment, such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware
Carry out emergency repairs as may be required;
Maintain tools used in heating, ventilating and air -conditioning maintenance (HVAC);
Installation of split units, inverter split units, packaged units and ventilation systems;
Carry out preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems;
All other maintenance tasks allocated.
Qualifications, skills and experience:

A national (N3) certificate with at least three years air-conditioning, electrical and refrigeration experience;
Air-conditioning Trade Test Certificate;
Knowledge of the operations of air-conditioning systems;
Knowledge of all basic refrigeration principles;
A Code B or EB driver’s license;
Knowledge of diverse installations;
Ability to meet demanding deadlines;
Be tolerant and understanding of a demanding client base;
High degree of customer focus and care;
Be skilled in the fault finding, operations and repairs of all related site installations.
