Well established trucking company looking for a shop foreman to work at our Cato Ridge Depot.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage workshops so that the service and repair of trailers and trucks
Manage all the workshop staff.
Compile management reports.
Manage the wash bay, tire bay, shops, etc.
Make sure a planned maintenance program is available at all times to reduce defects and breakdowns.
Make sure breakdowns are dealt with urgently.
Supervise to ensure that all maintenance is carried out in accordance with the vehicle’s procedures and requirements.
Implement controls to ensure that sufficient spare parts are available for efficient vehicle maintenance.
Perform quality checks on repaired vehicles to ensure service standards are maintained.
Demonstrate leadership, motivation and conflict resolution skills.
Mentor and coach subordinates.
Manage the performance of subordinates.
Ensure strong relationships are maintained with internal and external clients.
Manage discipline in the operation in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Take the necessary precautions to control and safeguard company assets.
Conduct and / or ensure that safety briefings are held.
Make sure cleaning is completed on an ongoing basis to keep the shop clean and safe.
Make sure all vehicles are returned in a clean and sanitary condition.
Complete health and safety inspection reports on a quarterly basis.
Conduct accident and incident investigations as necessary.
Maintain an updated fleet information system
Records and hours of service.
Management and processing of all supplier invoices
Monitor costs by analyzing cost allocations; identify discrepancies and implement cost saving strategies.
Drive and monitor performance to ensure revenue targets are met
REQUIREMENTS
Matric / Grade 12
Relevant workshop manager experience, preferably from the logistics / transportation industry.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years as Head of Workshop in Truck Workshop.
Knowledge of the following vehicle brands Trucks: Nissan, UD, Volvo
Knowledge and experience Medium to heavy transport engines.
Driver’s license with code 8 is required (code 14 is preferred).
Computer skills with outstanding intermediate qualification.
Dynamic and able to adapt to different challenges and handle pressure on a daily basis.
People management and problem solving skills.
The applicant must be in good physical condition.
Availability to work overtime, including Saturdays when needed.
Respond to incidents on the road when necessary.
However, the Cato Ridge-based warehouse will need to report to the Durban headquarters for reports and inspections.
