LOCATION: Witbank (Ferrometals)
REPORTING TO: Field Services Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Inspection of water systems, cooling systems, fuelling systems, engines, alternators, bogies
and traction motors, electrical systems and brake systems
• Conduct servicing of rolling stock according to scope from customer and clients
• Perform Services and inspections on locomotives, traction mobiles and wagons
• Keep updating records/checklist of maintenance file
• Minimize reworks
• Check quality of maintenance standards
• Require general knowledge on pneumatic hydraulics
• Conduct schedule maintenance on a daily basis on locomotives and other types and classes of
locomotives
• Conduct corrective and preventative maintenance
• Examine, test and qualifies equipment
• Checks suitability of components
• Provide the correct part numbers for spares required
• OEM Standards
• Build engines, compressors, bogies and accessory racks
• Install traction motors, compressors, engines, alternators and generators
• OEM Standards
• Adhere to safety
• Adhere to SOP
• Respond to customer call outs regarding breakdowns. Call out documents to be completed.
• Arrange equipment and tools required to attend to customer’s requirements
• Conduct fault finding exercise
• Diagnose the problem and identify components required to conduct breakdown

REQUIREMENTS
Qualification:
• Must have a Qualification in Diesel Electrical Fitter (Artisan)
• N3 Mechanical engineering

Experience:
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in the locomotive industry
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with GE 34-400 class and Funky locomotives
• Experience in the mining industry would be advantageous

COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, skills and abilities):
• Valid Brake Certificate
• Valid Red Card (Medical)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Valid Rigging & Slinging Certificate
• Safety certificates would be advantageous
• Competency in working on heights and in confined spaces
• Work on Standby and willing to travel to sites local and in Africa
