Khanya College is an NGO based in Johannesburg, South Africa.Khanya College’s commitment to social justice work, in particular in working class communities, includes the recognition of the importance of accountability within Khanya College and within the organisations that we serve.

Khanya College seeks diligent and committed individuals with interest in social justice and who have ICT skills – computer systems, networking and programming – to apply for positions in the ICT Department. This exciting department has expanded and come into its own, responding to the challenges of Covid 19, to make ICT accessible to broader communities.

The duties of these positions are to support and develop the ICT department in all its work; within the context of Khanya College’s broader project work with communities.

Starting date: as soon as possible

Eligible candidates will notified & interviewed at Khanya’s offices in Johannesburg

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the IT team in maintaining hardware, software, and other systems.
Maintain and upgrade the office computers and equipment as necessary
Provide technical support to Khanya College members.
Replace defective or broken products as necessary.
Assist in maintaining documentation for equipment.
Perform minor repairs to equipment and arrange for other servicing needs.
Maintain open communication and positive relationship with staff.
Organize and maintain IT resources.
Web designing (WordPress, HTML, CSS, PHP etc) and troubleshooting.
Programming support and development.
Requirements:

Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Excel spreadsheets, word processing and email)
Good understanding of diverse computer systems programming and networks.
Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
Have a capacity for and commitment to meticulous detail required in your work.
Self-Disciplined and able and willing to take instructions.
A Driver’s License is an advantage.

Period of Engagement & Salary
This is a fulltime position and salary is commensurate with responsibilities. The position is subject to an initial probation of 6 months. Salary ranges from R8 700 to R15 000.
