Each year, Haw & Inglis award bursaries to deserving students within the Civil and Building industry.
For the 2022 academic year, H&I bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:
Building
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Bursary recipients will be selected based on 2 major criteria: students academic merit and requirements of various Universities and University of Technology. Final selection will be determined by the H&I internal committee.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE HAW & INGLIS BURSARY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
You must be a South African citizen
You must be currently in Matric OR must have completed Matric
You must be studying or intend on studying towards an Undergraduate qualification in one of the aforementioned fields (postgraduate qualifications are NOT funded)
You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognised accredited tertiary University or University of Technology in South Africa
Current Matric students: you must achieve a minimum “C” symbol or 60% for Mathematics and Physical Science on your Matric certificate
Current tertiary students: you must have a good academic record AND have passed all previous subjects/ modules
Applicants must also possess the following personal attributes:
You must love the outdoors
You must be willing and able to work in rural areas
You must be interested in the building construction and civil industry
You must have strong leadership skills
You must have good communication skills
You must take initiative
