  1. Tell us about yourself :
    Focus mainly on your qualifications, your experience ( in line with the job at hand ), your skills, your involvement outside work environment e.g community involvement, where you are doing voluntary work.
  2. How you being involved in a situation that involves a difficult client or stakeholder and how did you manage it and what were the results ?
  • make use of an example in this case, and how you got involved , it its not a superior or management position, always make mention of the team.
    If it is management position, It’s ok to mention the team and how you contributed to the solution.
  1. How have you managed conflict at a workplace ?
  • if the conflict involved two colleagues, How you solve it is by speaking to them Individually trying to establish what the problem is, then give them an opportunity to come up with a solution before presenting your solution.
    If you were involved – you try to cool off first and allow the other person to cool off too , then you will approach the person when you have both cooled off and try to understand what went wrong or what is it you did wrong .
  1. How do you cope under Pressure ?
    You must indicate your ability to focus on meeting deadline, indicating that you know that some days in an organization things can be a bit hectic in terms of meeting deadlines, therefore what you do is to calm yourself down and focus on the job at hand, don’t forget to mention that if you can’t do everything on that day, you prioritize your work, start with the important tasks first .
  2. What is your view about team work?
  • you need to demonstrate that you are a team player or leader here , depending on the level of the position, You must highlight the importance of team work, and your role as well in a team. Keeping in mind that people in a team are not the same therefore you treat them differently based on their characters .
  1. Technical questions :
    You need to know the output of the job you are being interviewed for, you don’t need to know the whole list as per the advert, summarise them and try to remember the easy ones to remember
  2. You might be asked about what the company does:
    -research about some of the products/ services they offer
  3. If it’s a management position:
    They might ask you about the company values . Know them

Few other tips :

  1. Never answer a question if you don’t understand it, ask for it to be repeated or be rephrased – it’s allowed
  2. You can also ask for the question to be parked so you can answer it later, they will then ask it as the last question – it’s also allowed
  3. If you know an answer to a question but you can remember the answer right away, buy time by asking them to repeat the question but this time you are not focusing on the question, You are busy trying to remember the answer.
  4. Be honest when you don’t know – it might score you points – lying can be your deal breaker
  5. Always stay calm in the interview
  6. Prepare for the interview, it will boost your confidence
  7. Be early so that you can get used to the environment if it is your first time at that place.
  8. When you are afforded the opportunity to ask questions, one question you can ask is what happened to the person who was at that position?
  9. Some companies ask you to bring copies of qualifications during the interview.
