Project HOPE (Homelessness, Outreach, Prevention & Education) needs the services of cleaning staff supervisors and fieldworkers to be based in Sea Point, Fresnaye & Bantry Bay.

Persons needed to supervise beach conservation and street cleaning staff (Community Care Ambassadors or CCA’s) and perform fieldwork duties to assist homeless persons off the streets.

Hours of Work: Mondays – Fridays
Be prepared to work over weekends if required.

Report to: The Supervisor / Fieldworker will report to the Project Manager

Salary :R4800-00 per month

Criteria:
Must be over the age of 18 years
Grade 10 – 12
Computer literacy
Physically fit & able bodied
Must be able to communicate in English and one other language of the Western Cape
Must reside within a 20km radius of Sea Point and be able to travel at own cost.
Be of sound mind and sober habits

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise the CCA’s and inspect work sites.
Deploy the CCA’s every morning at 08h30
Ensure that CCA’s are equipped with implements, blue bags, recycling bags and the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Monitor CCA attendance and adherence to duties.
Establish baseline data in respect of numbers, distribution, composition and point of origin of homeless persons in the defined area.
Determine the resources available to street persons in the surrounding areas.
Develop relationships with the street people and the resources in the area to begin the management of the street person population downwards.
Identify the new arrivals and using resources available discourage them from making a home on the streets in the defined area.
Render reports and participate in the appropriate forums to create an integrated and more rational approach to the downward management of the street people population.
Working as part of a team deployed in the adjacent areas to avoid shifting the problem around.
Screen a minimum of 5 homeless persons per day or 100 persons per month,
Prepare a weekly fieldworker report addressed to the Project Manager by Thursday at 16h00 of each week.
Refer homeless persons to Shelters, Safe Spaces and Relatives.
