CAPRISA Director, Professor Salim Abdool Karim, is seeking an
experienced researcher as his Research Associate to work alongside him and support his research activities, including the drafting and editing of scientific documents, grant applications, protocols, reports and presentations. The successful incumbent will work closely with Prof Abdool Karim providing scientific support to Executive management.
Qualifications and experience:
PhD in science
At least three years of research experience
Excellent scientific writing skills
Must have published at least 5 journal articles
In-depth understanding of the scientific method
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Endnote and Powerpoint
Duties and Responsibilities:
Draft and support preparation of scientific reports and documents
Managing submissions of scientific reports
Preparing tables and graphs of research data
Provide research support
Competencies: Strong verbal and written communication skills; Attention to detail; Critical thinking; Problem-solving skills; Highly organized; Time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
Period: Two year fixed term contract (renewable)
