DESCRIPTION
The AHRI Research Intern’s primary responsibility is to work with human and HIV cells in BSL-2 and BSL-3. She will perform molecular biology and immunology techniques including tissue culture, flow cytometry, T cell cloning, nucleic acid isolation, PCR, sequencing, and in vitro infections.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out laboratory activities related to the project.
Assist the principal investigator with experiments, quality control, and data verification.
Perform blood sample processing when necessary.
Preparation of reagents, maintenance of cell lines and monitoring of viral cultures.
Perform human tissue culture and viral infectivity experiments.
Perform ELISA, Luminex, and flow cytometry experiments.
Perform molecular biology experiments that include nucleic acid extraction, PCR, sequencing, and cloning.
Perform general cleaning / maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Participation in the academic activities of the institution, including the journal club, laboratory meetings, research update meetings, etc.
RATINGS
Hons or Master in:
Molecular biology,
Microbiology,
Biochemistry,
Virology,
Immunology
or equivalent in a related field.
EXPERIENCE
Processing and storage of human samples, p. Eg blood, tissue, cells, RNA / DNA, etc.
Experience with HIV laboratory research
Experience in molecular biology, immunology or genetic techniques.
High level of computer literacy
Experience in molecular biology, immunology or genetic techniques.
