The Hogar de Niños de SA is the oldest welfare organization in the country. It was founded in 1808 and has provided ongoing support to vulnerable children and youth since its inception.
REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license
Grade 12
NQF Level 4 in Child and Youth Care.
Current SACSSP record
At least 2 years of proven experience in a residential child care center, working with youth in crisis, and / or living in out-of-home care situations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a warm and emotional environment for children.
Help with the daily care of the children.
Help find schools for children
Manage the task
Run development programs
Manage the health, safety and hygiene of the house and children.
Work in consultation with social workers
Keep the delivery book and keep the team updated regarding children
COMPETENCES
You must be able to work with at least 10 children at any one time.
Work under pressure and have high levels of emotional intelligence.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor while exercising judgment, discretion, and discipline at work.
Communication skills. Child care workers must be able to talk with parents, teachers, and colleagues about the progress of the children in their care.
Patience
This position is scheduled in shifts and you are required to sleep on the days scheduled to work.
